Hi Jack, I'll sometimes use mukimame when I'm going to cook with the edamame (i.e. puree it for a soup, add it to a stir-fry etc). For eating I like them in the pods, it's kind of alike corn, I prefer my corn on the cob for eating, as that's part of the experience (and canned/frozen corn doesn't taste the same as fresh), but sometimes I'll use canned corn for cooking.
