You're welcome Oksana! I hope you're having a great week. Other types of miso will work fine, but I chose Hatcho miso because it's the closest in flavor to Chinese fermented black beans which are the what's used in the original version of Mapo Tofu. Regular Japanese miso will give a more Japanese taste.
